I went to Culture Con last weekend, and I really wanted to make myself memorable when I was networking. So I added an NFC tag to my nails so people could tap their device to my nail and connect with me. I wanted to make sure they had a clear call to action wherever I sent them, and that it worked for both my fellow creatives and when networking with brands. So I set up a page on my website specifically for networking with my NFC nails, with links to my social media or to send me an email (with the subject line already filled out for them).
So many people stopped me about the design on my press on nails (tutorial dropping this week!), and mentioning the chip in my nails was a great talking point. Check out my TikTok below to see it in action, and to see how I did my NFC nails. Here’s what I used!
The NFC Tag I Used
I got this set of ten 10mm NFC tags on Amazon for under $10 (10’s across the board, no?). They were super easy to use and fit perfectly underneath my press-on nails.
How I Set Up The NFC Tag
To set up the NFC tag, I used an app called “NFC Tools” from the Apple App Store. Here’s what I did step-by-step:
- Clicked “Write”
- Selected “Add a Record”
- Selected “Add a URL Record”
- Pasted the link to the page I wanted to send people to, and clicked the checkmark in the top right corner
- Selected “Write”
- Followed the “Ready to Scan” prompt that came up on my phone and held the NFC tag to my phone until it said it was done.
How I Placed the NFC Tag in my Nail
First, I wiped the underside of my press on nail with rubbing alcohol on a lint-free nail wipe. Then I did a coat of builder gel, and pushed the nfc tag down into it using this silicone nail tool. Once I had it pushed flat into place, I flash-cured it so it’d say, then did a full cure under my nail lamp. Lastly, I added a coat of top coat and cured that as well.
