I made a DIY photo booth using my iPad for my graduation party last week. It was a HUGE hit with my guests, and I loved it too. Making the photo booth myself saved a lot of money, and it was easy to set up and run from my iPad. Here’s how I put it all together.

@flyfiercefab I made a DIY Photobooth using my iPad for my graduation party π©πΎβππβ¨ it was super easy to do, and I got everything on Amazon. #diyphotobooth #graduationparty #amazon #amazonfinds #amazonmusthaves #barbie #barbieparty #pink #blackgirltiktok #4degreeshotter β¬ Barbie World (with Aqua) [From Barbie The Album] [Extended] – Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice & Aqua
What I Used for my DIY Photo booth
The main things you need for your photo booth are a good light source and a way to take pictures. I used my ring light (on the light stand it came with) and attached an iPad holder so my guests could take photos on my iPad. I have the iPad Air 5.
My graduation party was Barbie-themed, so I wanted my decorations and photo backdrop to match the vibes. I used a hot pink sequined backdrop and an 8 x 10 backdrop stand from Amazon. I didn’t use the backdrop stand at its full width because it was a bit wider than my backdrop.
I added pink graduation and Barbie balloons on each side of my backdrop and a party sign that read “Mastered It 2023!”.
The App I Used for my DIY Photo Booth
I used the Simple Booth Halo app on my iPad to run my photo booth. It does have a monthly fee, so I waited to set it up until the month of my party. I set it up so that it was touchless. My guests raised their hands in front of my iPad to control it.
There are a LOT of options to customize it; I opted to allow guests to take one photo. You could let them take multiple (to create a collage) or a GIF. Also, you can add overlays to customize the final photo if you like. I added one that tied into the theme of my party and had my name on it (as you can see at the top of this blog post). I made the overlay on Canva.
@flyfiercefab I upgraded my @apple ipad to a pink iPad airππΎπ© I also got a privacy screen & cute case that lets me use it like a laptopππ» #ipad #ipadair #ipadunboxing #ipadair5 #ipadunboxing #ipadair2022 #techtok #ipadcase #ipadkeyboard β¬ original sound – Keyon
After taking each picture, guests could scan a QR code to save their pictures. I set up the app to save copies of all the pictures on my iPad, so I had them if my guests forgot to send it to themselves. Also, I put my iPad in guided access / kiosk mode so people could only access that one app.
Overall, this DIY Photo Booth was easy to assemble and affordable. I plan to bring this back out for future events; it would be great for weddings, birthday parties, or holiday parties.
