Black women in luxury seems to be a hot topic recently on social media, and honestly, there’s nothing that I personally love more than seeing black women living their best luxurious lives.
I stan, I aspire, and I’m saving my coins to get what I want haha.
I have quite a few things on my luxury wishlist, some are on the lower end of the price range ($$$, a few Virgil’s) and some that are a little more up there ($$$$, a whole lotta Virgil’s). I’ve used my Pinterest board to save things over the years to help me discover what I like, and get a feel for what my taste is. When it comes to luxury brands, I think I see myself as being someone who gravitates more towards accessories and bags (as I see myself getting more wear out of them over the years) v.s. investing in luxury clothing items.
In no particular order, here’s 5 things that are currently on my luxury wishlist:
1. Louis Vuitton Toiletry Pouch 26 Monogram Clutch, $520 USD.
Designed to be a toiletry bag, I’ve seen a lot of women actually carry it as a clutch (I did some digging late last year to try and figure out what this super cute Louis “clutch” was that I was seeing all the fashion girls carry on Instagram), and this is slated to be my first luxury designer purchase as it’s on the lower end of the luxury price range. I’ve always really loved the signature Louis print, and I plan to purchase this size pouch as it’s the largest and I’ll be able to fit more things in it.
Bad and bougie tip: Carrying a nice /designer/luxury bag or accessories, and mixing it with fast fashion pieces is something that a lot of your Instagram fashion faves do to elevate their look. Fashion Nova & Fendi, Gucci & H&M, Zara & Louis. This is the cheat code.
2. Salone Monet Sable Kyle Heels, $395 (currently on sale for $295)
Salone Monet (a black-owned brand) specializes in making nude heels for black women (because nude is *subjective* and this is a fact that is often overlooked by a lot of brands. As a black woman, I definitely have to do a bit more searching to find nude heels that are *my* shade of nude and not peach, or beige), and their Sabel heel is a beautiful sleek evening sandal. Handmade in Italy, made with satin, and stacking up at 4 inches these heels need to be in my closet yesterday. Based on the images that I’ve seen on their social media, I think the best shade for me would be “Kyle.” The Kyle collection also includes a couple of other heel styles, and all Salone Monet’s shoes come in 6 shades so there is a shade for everybody and every body.
Also, when I was scrolling through there feed, guess who I saw rocking their heels sis?
A whole Beyonce. Who also happens to be rocking the shade Sable.
3. Louis Vuitton So Shine Monogram Shawl, $730 USD.
We’ve already discussed how I love the Louis monogram print, and the sheen of this monogram scarf coupled with the print has ya girl SOLD. I can see myself draping this over my shoulders, with a sleek nude bodycon dress, and gold evening sandals for an evening of being wined and dined. For a casual day, I could wear it with jeans, gold or nude heels, a simple white T, and a fabulous camel wool coat. It’s neutral and versatile, which would make it a really nice luxurious finishing touch to elevate a plethora of looks.
4. Telfar Small Bubblegum Pink Shopping Bag, $150 USD.
I don’t know what rock I was under when the Telfar shopping bags started popping off, because ya girl done missed out and had to get on the email waitlist. Telfar is a black-owned brand fashion brand, that has certainly been making their mark on the industry with their unisex shopping bags being deemed the new “It Bag.” They come in a bunch of different colors, and with pink being my favorite that is first on my list. Next, I got my eye on the gold one.
5. Yves Saint Laurent Kate Chain Wallet with Tassel in Crocodile Embossed Shiny Leather, $1,750 USD.
Ok, so the YSL Kate chain wallet mini bag is currently the most expensive thing on my wishlist.
As I was saving fashion inspo on Pinterest, I realized I kept pinning a lot of things that featured this bag so I had to figure out what it was. I love leather that has a shiny or patent finish, and I feel like the crocodile embossing makes it look even more luxurious. I prefer the options with the gold tassel and logo, and there’s just something about the white bag that feels super luxurious too. Not sure when I’ll get my hands on this, but baby when I do? Looks will be served!
