Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Review
All the makeup girlies have been talking about the Yummy Skin Blurring Beauty Balm Powder (Retail $36) by Danessa Myricks. I was intrigued but apprehensive because it’s a cream product, and those notoriously have not worked well with my oily skin. It’s said to have a cream-to-powder finish, but the cream part was what worried me. After watching reviews by some of my fellow oily girls, I decided to try it. Chile, I’m so glad I did. This was my best purchase during the Sephora Holiday Savings Event.
It’s unlike any cream product I’ve ever used because it actually stays put on my oily skin and is long-lastin. It gives light to medium coverage, and gives my face a blurred / filtered finish. This is a great go-to product when you’re in a rush. Check out my TikTok tutorial at the end to see how I apply it.
About the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder
According to the product description, it’s a blurring balm that offers coverage and reduces texture. It’s also supposed to help reduce oils and balance hydration throughout the day. It can be used as a primer (so you don’t have to prime underneath it. I do though), to contour, to set foundation, and add coverage. It also comes in a colorless universal shade.
I like to use it as my foundation on a “quick” makeup day, after priming and color correcting. To set it, I use my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Powder. For me setting this product helps prevent it from creasing in my smile lines. I apply it with a synthetic foundation brush by Real Techniques.
What Shade I’m Wearing
I’m wearing the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm in the shade 8.5 (Dark with Neutral Undertones). I tried it in Shades 8 and 9 as well but discovered that the undertones are quite strong in this product. For reference, I was wearing Shade 9 in the photo below and it was just too dark for me. I wound up looking orange in that shade. Shade 8 was ultimately too light, and 8.5 wound up being the shade that worked best for me.
My Other Foundation Shade Matches (for Reference)
- Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’R Foundation in 390
- NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation in Marquises (Macao is a great color match for me, but the doesn’t work for me in flash photos)

@flyfiercefab The @DanessaMyricksBeauty yummy skin blurring balm is the only cream “foundation” (it’s cream/balm to powder product) that’s ever worked well with my oily skin ???. I’m wearing it in the shade 8.5, and I love it for my quick makeup days. #makeup #blackgirlmakeup #danessamyricksyummyskin #danessamyricks #blurringbalmpowder #everydaymakeup #makeuptutorial ♬ Lovin On Me – Jack Harlow
