How I Flat Iron my Sew In Fly Fierce Fab

A week after getting my hair done at the salon, I needed a lil touch-up. Since I’m rocking a straight style, I just wanted to smooth out a couple of bumps in my hair and to touch up my roots (I had sweat them out a tiny bit in my sleep). Here’s how I flat iron my hair to refresh my sew-in (check out this post for details on the hair I have installed). You can find everything I used to touch up my hair here on Amazon.

My Flat Iron

Since I have a traditional sew-in with leave-out, I’ve been opting to use a ceramic flat iron. I use my CHI X Barbie Collection flat iron on 375 to straighten my hair. I also use a carbon comb when I flat iron my hair, to do the comb and chase method.

Heat Protectant

I always put a lil heat protectant in my hair before using heat in my hair. Recently I’ve been using “Blockade” by Amika before using my heat tools.

How I Camouflage Thin Areas

As I continue to recover from hair loss (I’m anemic), I have some thin areas here and there. To camouflage those areas, I use hair fibers or this black hair dye spray by Red by KISS. Currently, I prefer the spray, which I use in the shade black. It comes in a BUNCH of different colors.

How I Tame Flyaways

To tame flyaways, I use this spray wax by Redken. You can get it on Amazon, or in stores at Ulta. A little goes a long way, and I always comb or smooth those areas to make sure the flyaways are FLAT.

Adding Shine

I’ve been trying different products to add shine to my hair, and this time I’m using the Kérastase Elixir Ultime.

Edge Control

To lay my edges, I’m using the Lagoom Jam Styling Gel by Goldwell. This works better than ANY edge control I’ve ever tried. I usually wrap my edges for a little bit after using it, to ensure they stay flat.
