Pink Birthday Nails Inspo: How I Made My Press-On Nails at Home
BTArtBox gifted me nails from their new X Coat Tips Bare Collection to review for this tutorial; all thoughts and opinions are my own. If there’s ever a time to go all out and be extra, it’s my birthday. So you know what that means: I want them long, pink, and covered in rhinestones. Here’s how I made these extra fabulous pink press-on nails at home for my birthday.
While pink is my favorite color (so I was gon’ do that anyways chile), I wanted my nails to sort of match my birthday dress (which has pink roses on it. Check out this blog post for outfit links).

The Nails I Used
The nails in the new X Coat Tips Bare collection come with five sets of nails, each in a different sophisticated shade that flatters all skin tones. You get 16 sizes of each color, for a total of 160 nails. For $15.99, this is a steal. Much like the rest of the X Coat Tips by BTArtBox, you don’t have to apply primer before using polish on them. You can either keep them plain or go right in with a design, but you do need to apply builder gel and top coat to these nails.
This collection comes in 11 different shapes and sizes, so there is something for everybody. I used the extra-long square version (my fave length and style from BTArtBox. They make me feel like a baddie), in the X shade.
You can grab them here on Amazon or here on the BTArtBox website.
The Gel Polishes I Used

Pink Double Rainbow Cat Eye Gel Polish
I feel like cat eye polish is a great way to add a pop to your nails with minimal effort. For nails two and four, I used a pink double rainbow cat eye polish. It’s shade 5 in this holographic cat eye gel polish set by Born Pretty on Amazon. To move the particles in the polish, I used this 3-N-1 magnet by GAOY. I have a few different magnets, but for me, this is the easiest one to use, where I actually see the changes right away.
I used two coats of this cat eye gel polish.
Pink Glitter Gel Polish
For the rest of my nails, I used this pink sequin glitter gel polish from this Born Pretty glitter gel polish set on Amazon. It has different sizes and shades of pink glitter suspended in clear gel polish. I’m really impressed with these glitter polishes. To me, it looks just like when I encapsulate my nails with glitter.
Rhinestones And Nail Charms
On my main accent nails, I used pink rose and butterfly nail charms from this affordable nail charm set on Amazon. I love that it has different sizes and shades of nail charms to work with. Additionally, I used these silver AB crystals around the nail charms.
How I Apply My Nail Charms and Rhinestones
To hold the nail charms in place, I applied them on top of my uncured builder gel, and then cured my nails. I’ve been applying my nail charms and rhinestones this way recently, and I really like it. It helps my nails look less bulky, and I can get two things done at once: strengthening my nails, and applying my nail accents.
Nail Foils and Foil Glue
I got this set of nail foils with cherries and pink bows on SHEIN for around $2.50. After applying the pink glitter gel polish on my thumb, I used the clear nail foil with the pink bow. I applied it using this nail art foil glue by Beetles, and added some small AB crystals to the center of the bows.
If you want a detailed tutorial on how to apply nail foils, check out my tutorial here on YouTube.
Builder Gel and Top Coat
To finish off my press on nails, I applied a coat of builder gel (mainly to my plain nails, as I used it on all the other nails to adhere my nail charms and rhinestones. I want to emphasize that I only use one coat of builder gel on each nail), and a coat of top coat from the BTArtBox French Protecting Duo. I cured each coat under my nail lamp for 60 seconds.
How I Make MY Press On Nails Last
I try to make sure I prep my natural nails well, to make sure my press on nails stay on as long as possible. I show how I prep my nails in my tutorial below, and you can check out this blog post for more details.
The Nail Glue I Used
To glue on my press on nails, I used this brush on nail glue by BTArtBox. I’ve used this a few times now, and my nails always stay on at least a week.
