How To Convert A YSL Clutch Into a Crossbody Bag

Did you know you can put a chain on a Yves Saint Laurent clutch and convert it into a crossbody bag? The girls were shook when I shared this on TikTok. I purchased two YSL Monogram Clutches (Retail $725, Hawaii Price with tax $684) as a birthday gift to myself when I visited Hawaii in February. Originally I wanted to buy one YSL bag (I was thinking of getting a Kate bag or a wallet on chain), as I’ve had one on my luxury wishlist for a minute.

Why The Monogram Clutch Is a Great Starter Bag

I was planning my first YSL purchase when I discovered that I could buy TWO YSL Monogram Clutches for less than the price of one YSL wallet on chain (roughly $1,550). And you know what’s better than one YSL bag? TWO BABY. I bought one in black, and one in white. Since I didn’t have a white purse, I figured this would be a good choice, lol. Eventually, I will build my YSL collection, but I feel like the monogram clutch is a great starter bag. It gives you the luxury look and feel that you desire, at a more affordable price point.

YSL Clutch v.s. Wallet On Chain

In comparison to the wallet on chain, the monogram clutch is slightly taller in height and shorter in width. The clutches come in all different colors, but I recommend starting with a neutral for maximum versatility.

It’s SUPER easy to convert a YSL Monogram Clutch into a crossbody bag. I converted mine by purchasing a conversion kit by FromHer on Amazon for roughly $40. It comes with a gold chain and a felt insert that doubles as a purse organizer. You connect the chain to the felt insert, slide it into the clutch, and dassit.
