I have oily skin (specifically in my T-Zone), and it’s taken me a while to find the best makeup products that:
- Make my skin look and feel flawless (including a solid shade an undertone range)
- Are long-lasting
- Keep my oils from breaking through, after a few hours of wear
- Don’t slip and slide around on my face when it gets hot
- Don’t oxidize, and get darker and/or redder after a few hours of wear
- Provide full coverage
And honestly, I don’t think that’s asking for a whole lot haha. After a lot of trial and error, I’ve found my dream team of products. I love a flawless full-coverage finish, so finding products that provided this was important too. Do I need full coverage? No. Do I want it? YES. Gimmie.
I do want to preface this by saying, that a good makeup application starts with good skincare. I definitely noticed that my oils stayed in check when I established a routine that corrected the moisture balance of my skin. After doing that, my skin noticeably behaved differently, and my makeup products performed better. Win-Win.
Sephora Favorites
Here are some of my favorites from Sephora, that I use all the time:
Primer
Becca’s Ever-Matte Poreless Perfecting Primer is the GOAT for oily skin. I use this primer only on my oily areas (T-Zone), and I use the Milk Makeup Hydrogrip Primer on the rest of my face. The Becca primer works well with any foundation to mattify your skin and help keep your oils at bay. This isn’t a primer that you need to use all over your face, just concentrate on the oily areas. Using it on the non-oily areas will make you look kinda dry.
Foundation
It’s taken me a long time for me to find foundations that are a great match, and keep my oils at bay. I’ve tried a lot of foundations over the years, and to date, my top two are the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’R Foundation (Shade: 390), and the NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation (Shade: Macao). Both have a beautiful matte finish, that looks flawless in person, and photographs beautifully. Check out the NARS foundation (and my oily skin foundation routine!) in action below.
Concealer
Too Faced’s Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer, is an undefeated full coverage all-star. I’ve never needed to layer it with anything else to get more/better coverage. If you let it dry down a little bit before you blend, you’ll get even better coverage. If you love full coverage, this is the concealer for you. I haven’t touched anything else in a very long time.
Powder
I like to set my face with the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’R Loose Setting Powder (Shade: Nutmeg). It’s light, add’s a little extra coverage, and really helps to set everything into place.
I ain’t even gon’ hold you though, for touch-ups MAC’s Pressed Blotting Powder is still that girl.
So there you have it guys, a quick run down of my favorite full covereage makeup products from Sephora for oily skin.
