2020 has been quite the year. In the midst of it all, there were a few beauty products that I tried that left me shooketh. This year I found my new favorite flawless face foundation and a new signature scent. From my makeup, skincare, fragrance, and hair care collection, I can list 5 beauty products that changed my life in 2020 off the top of my head. In no particular order, here they are:
5 Beauty Products That Changed My Life in 2020
1) Nars Soft Matte Complete Foundation
I’m starting this list off with the heavy hitter. The newest addition to the NARS foundation collection, their Soft Mate Complete Foundation, shook my makeup vanity this year. I’ve always wanted to try a NARS foundation, but their previous offerings weren’t geared toward oily skin. I tried one once, and I looked super greasy after a couple of hours.
So when I saw that they were dropping a *matte* foundation for the oily girls, I was super excited. This foundation is EVERYTHING. Its full coverage makes my skin look flawless, is long-lasting, and photographs beautifully. It’s the only foundation I’ve been using since it came out a couple of months ago. Check out my review video to see it in action and get all the tea on the foundation.
2) Kayali Musk | 12
Musk by Kayali (by Huda Beauty) is my new signature scent. I love sweet scents, and over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been on a fragrance kick. I’ve added some bomb perfumes to my collection after finally finding more sweet scents that I LOVE. Musk by Kayali is my favorite one that I’ve purchased. It smells sweet, youthful, and like the luxurious woman that I aspire to be.
It’s available in a rollerball duo for $28 with Vanilla by Kayali as well, and that’s a great way to try both perfumes affordably. I started with the rollerball and had to have the full-size bottle of Musk. Vanilla will be next.
3) Bed Head Hard Head Hairspray
As a wig wearer, I’m always looking for a way to apply my wigs that are easy and safe for my hairline. I’ve done glue in the past (and still will in the summertime), and tried the Got2BGlued method. The problem for me with Got2BGlued is that it can get messy, and go left quickly. It also turned white on me a few times, leaving me to have to start all over. Ain’t nobody GotTime4That *wink*.
Bed Head’s Hard Head Hairspray came to my rescue. When I use this and dry it with a blowdryer on high, I can apply and secure my wig in 5-10 minutes. SECURED sis. This product made my life soooo much easier this year, and it makes it so easy for me to apply my lace front wigs. It’s also super easy to remove, I just use a little water on a washcloth and my wig will slide right off. It’s lit.
4) Soft Hooded Bonnet Dryer Attachment
This soft hooded bonnet dryer attachment has been a gamechanger for my wash day routine. I don’t really have room to store a hard bonnet hair dryer (like in a salon), so I needed an affordable and easy to store option. The soft bonnet dryer attachment is about $14.99 on Amazon, and easily attaches to my blowdryer to create a soft bonnet hairdryer.
My 4C natural hair responds best when I use heat during my deep conditioning sessions, and with this dryer attachment it’s a breeze.
5) Cerave Healing Ointment
I’ve been wearing a mask for at least 40 hours a week, every week since the pandemic started. While I’m grateful it’s helped me stay safe and protect those around me, my skin underneath was getting really dry and irritated. Skincare twitter put me on to the Cerave Healing Ointment, and my skin has been thriving ever since. No more dry and rough texture on the skin under my mask, just soft smooth skin.
So there you have it y’all, 5 beauty products that changed my life in 2020. What are some products that you just couldn’t put down? Let me know in the comments!
With this being my last blog post in 2020, I want to wish you a wonderful start to the new year. I hope you set big goals and show up for yourself in the most fabulous way possible. Cheers!
Stylishly Yours,
Theresa Seyi
