The Ultimate Bougie On A Budget Shopping Tip
Happy New Year! With the holiday season coming to a close, now is the best time to buy special occasion outfits.
If you need a birthday dress, something for a special event, etc., you should start shopping now. This is because all of the fabulous and festive pieces that stores put out for the holidays are now ON SALE.
If you’re looking for the sequins, feathers, faux fur, ALL DAT is now on sale sis. If you wait too long on some of the holiday sale pieces, they will either sell out or come back later at full price. We’re trying to keep the budget in bougie on a budget.
Where You Should Shop
Firstly, we need to know where to look for good quality bougie on a budget pieces. For the bad & bougie on a budget, there are a few stores where I recommend focusing your attention.
Fashion Nova always has great special occasion pieces for the low, I purchased my birthday dress there last year (for around $80 I believe).
In addition, stores like Pretty Little Thing, Missguided, ASOS, BooHoo, and Zara are great places to look. They all have some good quality special occasion pieces for the low right now. The sparkly mini dress that I’m wearing in this post is from Zara, and it’s on sale for $22.99. These are the kinds of deals that we’re looking for!

What You Should Look For
Secondly, we need to know what to look for at these stores. Sometimes the websites can feel overwhelming, so we need a game plan.
Simply put, we’re looking for the bougie stuff. Pieces that look luxurious and make us feel fabulous. Sequins and satin are easy ways to elevate your look, and feathers and fur add a glamourous touch as well.
Sequins
When I’m looking for a fabulous outfit, the first thing on my mind is sequins and embellishments.
A sequin dress screams full on fabulous
A sequin pantsuit? Sexy, powerful, and fabulous.
You could also opt for sequin pants, or a sequin skirt if you’re not into head to toe sequins.
Feathers
Feather embellishments give me old school glam. Feather trim on a dress is an unexpected but fabulous touch, or you could go with a feather mini skirt or crop top.
Fur
Faux fur is a great way to instantly elevate any look (even jeans and a t shirt), and stay warm in the winter.
A good quality faux fur in a neutral color (white, black, brown) is a great place to start, before you venture into bold colors. You can also go with a faux fur vest.
All faux furs are not created equal, but there are a few stores that I trust. Zara, H&M, Pretty Little Thing, and Missguided all have great quality faux fur pieces, like my green faux fur hooded jacket from Pretty Little Thing.

Knowing where to shop and what to look for during the post-holiday sales is the best way to find fire bougie outfits for the low. Right now, we’re still in the post-holiday sweet spot, so if you know that you want to find a fly, fierce, and fabulous outfit for something, now is the time sis.
