Baby, I had a time last month! I’ve always dreamed of going to New York Fashion Week, and last month I finally got my chance. I pulled up to New York for the weekend, to attend my first NYFW show and some events. You already know, I had to make sure that my NYFW outfits were on point. As I recently started grad school, I could only manage to get away for the weekend. After I graduate, I’d love to go for the entire week.

My First NYFW Show
I got tickets to attend the Fashion Bomb Daily NYFW Show, featuring collections from some amazing black designers. 13 designers were featured, including Mason Beretta, Shane Justin, Michele Lopez, BruceGlen, and Ade by Femi (a fabulous Nigerian designer).

As a fashion lover, I just wanted to be in the room where it happens (c’mon Hamilton!). I loved every minute of the show, and many celebrities were also in attendance. In the crowd were Draya Michele, Ashley Darby, Iyanla Vanzant, Misa Hylton, Vivica Fox, and Eva Marcielle hosted the show.
I wore a pink sequin suit with feather trim from Fashion Nova for the Fashion Bomb Daily Fashion Show. I also wore matching rhinestone platform sandals from Fashion Nova, a blush bodysuit from Zara, and my white YSL monogram clutch that I converted into a crossbody bag.
Revolve Gallery Pop-Up Event
While I was in NYC for the weekend, I was able to check out the Revolve Gallery Pop-Up Event in Hudson Yards. For this presentation, they had rooms dedicated to collections from specific designers. Among those featured were Santa Brands, Kim Shui, Michael Costello, Remi X Revolve, and more. At the end of the event, you could also check out their pop-up shop and purchase pieces from the designers.
This was my first time visiting Hudson Yards, and the Zara in this mall definitely ran my pockets before I left. That’s where I got the black dress shown in my NYFW outfits recap, and it looks so good with my boots from Ego (they’re definitely giving me Jimmy Choo X Mugler vibes).

For this event, I wore a satin money print two-piece set by Duckie Confetti. It was released with Beyonce’s Black is King collective, and some similar pieces are still available on their website. I finished my look with white Air Force 1’s, my white YSL clutch, and $12 yellow shades from Amazon.
Buddakan or Bust!
I wanted to check out Buddakan NYC while in town, as I’ve heard so many good things about it. So I got the Ma La Chicken (which I think I was allergic to), Lobster Fried Rice, and Lobster Egg Rolls.

Buddakan was my first stop when I got in the city, and I wore a yellow satin top and pants with feather trim from Fashion Nova. I styled it with this gorgeous chrome finish bag by Noir X (a black-owned brand), a Louis Vuitton bandeau, gold platform heels, and $12 shades from Amazon.
Here, There, and Hilton!
I got to do some shopping while I was in the city, and honestly, my hotel was in the perfect location. I stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn New York / Tribeca, which I chose because it’s right behind Spring Studios (where all the major fashion events go down). In addition, it’s a nice hotel that’s super affordable and within walking distance of many great stores and restaurants. So if you’re planning a trip to Tribeca and are looking for a place to stay near all the action (but still affordable and offering a great experience), I highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn New York / Tribeca.

To explore the city, I wore my green tie-dye Good American Jeans, a white Tank from Zara, and this green faux fur trim coat from Finesse. Which I also bought in red. Was I hot? Yes. Was it a look? Also, yes, LOL.
