NARS recently dropped a new matte foundation, called the Natural Matte Longwear Foundation. They recently discontinued their Soft Matte Complete Foundation (my all-time fave). So this will now be the matte foundation in their lineup. I decided to try it as I’ll now need a new go-to matte foundation. They released it in a shade called “Perth” which is a medium-deep neutral shade (with an olive tone), between Macao and Marquises.
As a girlie who is kinda stuck between Macao and Marquises, I was really excited to try this new shade. Here’s all the tea!
What’s It Supposed to Do?
According to the product description, the Natural Matte Longwear Foundation is a buildable medium-to-full coverage foundation with a natural matte finish. It’s supposed to be lightweight, non-drying, and stay true to color all day long. Also, it’s supposed to resist creasing, transfer, water, humidity, and sweat. So it’s supposed to stay locked in with you all day, while giving you a blurred finish.
How Did it Work on My Oily Skin?
When set with the best powder, the foundation looked pretty good throughout the day. I actually got a lot of compliments on my makeup the first time I wore it. For the most part, my oils mainly broke through a bit on my nose, but it wasn’t terrible. I purposely didn’t touch up my makeup so I could see what it does.
I noticed a difference in how my foundation looked based on the face powder I used to set it. Overall, this is a foundation I will continue to use, though I’m not sure how it will perform in extreme heat/summertime on my oily skin.
How Does It Look After 8 Hours?
I did two 8-hour wear tests of the NARS natural matte longwear foundation. Check out my TikTok below to see the results. I noticed a dramatic difference in how it looked based on the powder I set it with.

The first time I wore it, I set it with my One/Size BouclΓ© Silk Powder. I think this powder works best over a more matte foundation, as I looked more oily after 8 hours and it also made me look a little orange (however, this same powder looks great over the Soft Matte Foundation). When I set it with my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder, it looked more true to my initial application.
Is “Perth” Giving, or Nah?
I will say that this foundation definitely has a strong olive tone. I feel like if it were more of a true neutral, it would be a spot-on match for me. However, based on how it looks in my flash test (see my TikTok above), I’m pleased with this shade match.
