Ya girl is trying to level up for her vlogger era, so I recently got the viral Xtra Muse Vlog Camera on Amazon. Simply put, I LOVE it. The video quality is great (I used it to film my recent YouTube vlog on The Makeup Show NYC), it’s compact, and super easy to use. However, one thing nobody really tells you is that a lot of filming setup accessories won’t work if you have the camera in one of those colorful protective silicone cases.

This is because the accessories that enclose the camera won’t fit around it while it’s in the case. So you’ll either need to remove the case each time (ain’t nobody got time for that) OR not use the case (which I use to protect my camera, and hello, aesthetics people!). I quickly discovered this after ordering lots of accessories I saw in various haul videos.

After a lot of trial and error, here are the best Xtra Muse Camera accessories that actually work with the silicone case.

Camera Mounts

The biggest issue I had was finding camera mounts for my Xtra Muse that would work with the silicone case. I want to be able to do lots of different aesthetic shots and B-Roll (like when the content creator girlies attach their camera to their shopping cart to get different angles). It seems like all the ones I saw in reviews on TikTok, etc., had to go around the camera, so they didn’t fit with the case on.

The trick? You gotta look for 1/4″ thread mounts on your Xtra Muse camera accessories so you can essentially “screw” the camera onto the mount. This means these same accessories also work on other cameras, etc. that use a 1/4″ thread mount.

I got these mounts on Amazon to help make sure I get the shot every time:

To Mount Your Phone & Camera (at the Same Time)

The first is this phone and camera mount by Neewer, which allows me to mount both onto my tripod (I love this one, it’s super sturdy, easy to travel with, and folds down nicely), and film. Hands down, this is what I reach for most.

To Mount Your Phone to A mirror or a window

Next, I wanted a suction cup mount (that’s NOT sticky, a lot of the ones I’ve seen other influencers suggest leave a sticky residue behind. That’s not ideal when I film while traveling, etc. because it requires clean up) to mount my camera onto a mirror, window, etc. when I film. This suction cup car mount by Telesin does the job perfectly.

It’s sturdy, adjustable (so you can get a wide variety of angles), and easy to remove. I used this to film the get ready with me portion of my recent NYC vlog (doing my makeup, hair, etc.) by mounting my Xtra Muse on the mirror in the hotel bathroom. I’ll be using this on my sunroof, etc. in my car for aesthetic car shots too.

Bonus Tip: As this suction cup mount is super sturdy, I could have used it with the phone and camera mount by Neewer to film on my iPhone and my Xtra Muse at the same time.

To Mount Your Camera to Anything Magnetic

Remember those aesthetic shop with me “camera mounted on the shopping cart” videos I mentioned earlier? A lot of creators are filming those using magnetic mounts. But again, the most popular one I saw had to go around the camera. So instead, I added this 1/4″ thread magnetic mount by K&F Concept to my vlogging setup. It’s foldable and allows you to mount your camera on anything you can stick a magnet to.

Because You Need Good Lighting Twin

Good lighting is key for any and every shot, and I wanted to find a good portable mini light that fits on my camera (while still in its case). This Ulanzi LM001 Magnetic Fill Light works perfectly and fits over my silicone case.

To Make Sure You Don’t Drop Your Camera

Lastly, if you’re looking for a cute wrist strap to attach to your silicone case (I love this to help make sure I never drop my camera), there are a bunch of cute options on Amazon. Just about any cute phone wrist strap will do the job. I got this one with the pink bows and beads.
