How To Bedazzle Your Canon G7X Camera Case + Charm Bracelet Camera Wrist Strap Tutorial
I was able to get my hands on the Canon G7X Mark III during Canon’s recent restock (read how you can find it too in this blog post), so of course I had to accessorize it. When I saw this pink lips print Canon G7X camera case on Amazon, it felt so me, but it was missing something. So I decided to bedazzle it and make a charm bracelet-inspired camera wrist strap too. Here’s how I made everything; check out my TikTok below to watch a step-by-step tutorial.
How To Bedazzle Your Silicone Camera Case
I probably should have started by wiping the camera case down with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue and help the rhinestones adhere better. Even though I didn’t do that, everything went fine. I used Sil-Poxy, which is a silicone rubber adhesive, to glue the rhinestones onto my silicone camera case. I used SS6 and SS10 pink, red, and crystal AB glass flatback rhinestones on my case. Essentially, I matched the rhinestones to the lip prints’ color. Except for the mauve lip prints, I used crystal AB rhinestones on those.
I suggest working in small sections, because the Sil-Poxy starts to cure after three minutes. Be sure to use enough for the rhinestone to stick, but not so much that it’ll dry clumpy. I used a wax pen to place the rhinestones, and a wooden cuticle stick to apply the Sil-Poxy.
Charm Bracelet Camera Wrist Strap
After going all out on my pink camera case, I knew the camera wrist strap had to be equally fly. Originally I thought about getting one of the beaded wrist straps all the girlies have on social media. However, when the super sturdy one I’ve had on my iPhone since the beginning of the year broke in the middle of the store the other day (and my phone immediately dropped to the floor), I thought better of it.
Instead, I got this gold chain purse strap on Amazon to use as my camera wrist strap. My rationale is that if it’s strong and sturdy enough to hold the weight of a purse, it should be able to hold my Canon G7X Mark III no problem. To ensure it didn’t scratch my camera (or the case for that matter), and to help make sure the connection was extra sturdy, I used a camera strap split O-ring adapter with a leather cover to attach the wrist strap to my camera. Basically, I attached the split O ring to my camera, and hooked my wrist strap onto that (as seen in my tutorial below)
Where I Got The Charms
To customize my wrist strap and make it look like a charm bracelet, I added some charms that I found in Michael’s Craft Store and Hobby Lobby. Both stores are currently having sales on their charms. The majority of them hooked right onto the chain strap with no problem. I believe I just had to switch the lobster clasps on the passport and Eiffel Tower charms to larger 12mm Lobster Clasps, as they were too small to fit around the chain. Then the fairy tale charms from Hobby Lobby didn’t have clasps at all, so I added jump rings and lobster clasps to those too.
