The Canon G7X Mark III is a highly sought-after point and shoot camera. It’s often sold out everywhere, and if you do find it somewhere (eBay, a bundle deal, etc.), it’s typically at least twice its actual retail price. This easily brings the $879 camera to at least $1,300 most of the time. It’s been on my wishlist for a long time, and I recently scored a brand-new one at regular price and had it in my hands six days later. If you’re trying to buy the Canon G7X Mark III at regular price and not overpay, here’s the trick I used to help me find it.
Btw, I also linked my cute pink silicone camera case and accessories for it too! You can see them in my TikTok below.
Why Did I Get the Canon G7X Mark III?
I’ve been in the content game for over 12 years now. This year, one of my goals has been to build up my content equipment to help me create higher-quality content in a way that’s faster and easier. Oh, and to finally learn more about shooting in manual, and not just being the auto queen LOL. Over the years, it was me and my Canon T6i (pictures, long-form YouTube videos) and whatever iPhone (pictures, short-form videos, all vlogs) I had rocking for a long time. However, as I’ve grown and learned, I find myself preferring different things for different scenarios (like how I now prefer my Xtra Muse Vlogging Camera to film my vlogs because it’s small, great quality, and now my phone isn’t tied up when I need to get other stuff done while I’m travelling).

I absolutely love taking content pictures (I feel like that’s one of my strengths as a style influencer). While I have the Canon R8 for my dedicated photoshoots, I wanted a point-and-shoot camera (with built-in flash and a flip-out screen) that I could comfortably carry in my purse or on the go and still get stunning high-quality images no matter where I am (out and about, events, etc.). Essentially better than phone quality, but a step below my Canon R8. As I’ve seen the stunning photos other creators have taken with the Canon G7X over the years (it came out almost five years ago), I knew this was what I wanted to add to my kit. While it can also record in 4K 30p, I mainly plan to use it for photography.
Why Am I A Canon Girlie?
I’ve used both Canon and Sony cameras, and overall I find myself always gravitating to Canon. I prefer the rich colors that I get directly from the camera (making it easier for me to edit), and I find that Canon cameras perform better in low light conditions. I like to do a lot of nighttime photoshoots, and film in low lighting, so those are things are important to me.
Why Is the Canon G7X Mark III So Hard To Get?
Canon has had some production delays, supply issues, etc., which contributed to making it harder to get. Additionally, the influencer girlies put everyone on, so the demand increased but the supply did not match. The Canon G7X Mark III is often out of stock at most places (Canon, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Target, Walmart, Adorama, etc.), and if you do happen to find it in stock, it’s typically being sold for almost twice as much. And this economy?! Chile, paying more was a no for me.
How Did I Find The Canon G7X Mark III At Regular Price?
I came across a site called HotStock.io, which is a website (and app) where you can track in-stock alerts online for items you’re looking for in real time. After you search for the item you want and set an alert, HotStock.io will constantly check if it’s in-stock at multiple stores and alert you immediately when it is. Think of it like having an assistant that constantly refreshes the product pages for you at multiple stores and lets you know the second it’s back in stock.
How Was My Ordering Experience? How Long Did It Take to Get It?
I set alerts for both the black and silver Canon G7X Mark III on HotStock.io, and I downloaded the app and turned on the notifications. This is how I was able to find it. Less than an hour after I set my alerts, I got in-stock notifications for the camera in both colors from the HotStock.io app. When I clicked the alert, it put me in the queue to check out on the Canon website (that line was long chile) so I could get my camera. I also called and spoke to Canon after to confirm my order. While the camera did sell out (after I got mine), I did notice multiple restock alerts after, so they may have added more in batches for about an hour or so.
For reference, I caught the restock around 1 PM EST on a Friday. I received my camera about six days later.

1) Download the Hotstock.io app and sign up. Be sure to turn on your notifications for the app.
If I didn’t have mine on, I would have missed it. I had also signed up for in-stock email notifications from Canon about an hour before I found HotStock.io, and they never notified me when the cameras were back. So HotStock.io appears to be the most reliable for actually getting the in-stock notifications in real time.
2) Set alerts for the Canon G7X Mark III in both colors. Here are the links to set up alerts for it in black and silver on HotStock.io.
3) Keep an eye out for the notifications, and be ready to hop in the queue and check out when you get the in-stock alert.
So there you have it! That’s the trick I used to secure a brand new Canon G7X Mark III at regular price on Canon. Have you been trying to get your hands on this camera? Or if you have it, what are some of your best tips and tricks for it? Let me know in the comments below!
