My first sew-in appointment is coming up, and I want to add faux highlights to my hair (think 613/27). So I decided to color the hair for my faux highlights myself. I got a 22″ bundle of Raw Cambodian Blonde Wavy hair from Yummy Hair Extensions and cut it in half to create my faux highlights. I kept one half of the bundle the 613 color, and dyed the other half. In the video the final color looks more gingery on camera, but in real life it’s more of a hair color #27.
I’ve heard great things about Yummy Hair Extensions, and I love that the hair is pre-lightened so I didn’t have to worry about bleaching it, etc. Also since it’s Cambodian hair, it should blend well with the other Cambodian bundles I plan to use for traditional my sew-in.

What Hair Dyes Did I Use?
After doing some research online (i.e. watching TikTok videos LOL), I decided to dye the hair using the watercolor method. This means that you boil the water, mix in the dye, and then dip the hair in the dye.
To achieve this strawberry blonde color (think hair color #27), my sister helped me mix two dyes: KISS Tintation in Rose Gold and Adore Dye in Honey Brown. I purchased both of the dyes on Amazon.
My sister is an artist, so she was able to eyeball the color mixture. We used more of the honey brown dye than the rose gold dye in our watercolor mixture.
After we dyed the hair, I washed the bundle using Tresemme Rich Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. These are some of the hair products that Yummy Hair Extensions recommended, so I picked up travel sizes at Target for $2 each.
