The Makeup Show NYC Vlog & Painted By Esther Masterclass
My fellow makeup lovers, we are SO BACK! I got to attend both days of The Makeup Show NYC earlier this month at the Metropolitan Pavilion, and baby, we had a time. I haven’t been to a large makeup/beauty event since Gen Beauty pre-COVID, so I was really excited to attend, especially since I was able to secure a ticket to the sold-out Danessa Myricks X Painted by Esther Makeup Masterclass. Check out my new YouTube vlog below to see what it’s REALLY LIKE on the makeup show floor and at the masterclasses IRL.
Btw, this is the first video I made using my new Xtra Muse 3 Vlog Camera. I linked my whole setup here on my Amazon storefront. Let me know what you think!
What Is The Makeup Show NYC? Who Is it For?
@flyfiercefab Come with me to @The Makeup Show ππβ¨ not only did I get to attend the @DanessaMyricksBeauty & @Paintedbyesther masterclass (and I learned so much!), I also attended a class by @Ken and got sooooo many new makeup products to try. The Makeup Show NYC is an international makeup and beauty trade show. It’s curated for both industry professionals (makeup artists, hairstylists, cosmetologists, estheticians, etc.) and beauty enthusiasts and lovers like myself. It’s a two-day event, and you can purchase a ticket for one or both days.
During the trade show, you can shop with some of your favorite brands (at a discounted rate), check out classes to learn new techniques, and see presentations from brands on the best way to use their products. If you love makeup and want to learn the best ways to get more of your products and level up your techniques, you need to be here.
What Can You Do There?
When you go to The Makeup Show NYC, you can shop, learn, and network. You can shop for new products or restock your faves, as there are lots of beauty brands selling their products at discounted rates (with deeper discounts for industry professionals).
I had a general ticket, which gave me access to the show floor and the presentations happening on the stages there (like the presentation/class given by BasedKenKen, where I learned the tip about using Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed in Golden Hour to color correct). I had also wanted to catch some presentations on bridal makeup and body art, but I ain’t gon’ hold you, I was busy shopping LOL.

For certain other classes (like the makeup masterclass I attended), you needed to purchase an additional ticket for that specific event. Overall, I really enjoyed getting to check out a lot of new products and learn directly from the brands the best ways to use them and how they can be multipurposed.
How was The Danessa Myricks X Painted by Esther Masterclass?
Chile, the Danessa Myricks X Painted by Esther Masterclass was a full house! In total, it was about four hours long, with each of them teaching for about two hours. This was my main reasoning for attending The Makeup Show, and it was well worth it. I learned so many tips and techniques that I can’t wait to try when I do different makeup looks. I took sooooo many notes.

Did I mention that all the attendees left with a makeup goodie bag valued at over $400?! We also got to meet both ladies and give them their flowers.
What Did You Learn Masterclass? Give Us Some Tea!

This makeup masterclass was packed with gems. I have two pages of notes on my phone with all the tips and tricks I learned from these ladies. From the one brush Danessa Myricks likes to use to do a WHOLE FACE to how to use Colorfix to waterproof your beat.
Painted by Esther also walked through her techniques for shade matching, layering blush, and creating her coveted whimsical beats. Her portion of the masterclass had me running to get the Danessa Myricks Lightwork V Palette that she used to highlight the model.
Was It Worth It? Should I Go Next Year?
For me, attending The Makeup Show NYC was well worth it. I really wanted to learn some new makeup techniques and get some new products. I was able to do both of these things, and next time I want to try and catch even more of the technique classes to help me level up my makeup game.
If you have similar goals, then I’d say you should keep an eye out for their next events.
