Sweatpants are great for relaxed days and weekend errands, but I personally like to find ways to dress them up a bit. No longer reserved for off days, sweatpants and cute loungewear along with sweatsuits have become more popular now that people are spending more time at home due to the pandemic. The question is: how can you wear sweatpants, and still look fly, fierce, and fabulous?
JLuxLabel definitely shook the tables when they dropped their Unisex collection a month or so ago. The collection sold out super fast and is slated to be restocked for the fall. The unisex collection features sweatsuit separates in various neutrals and earth tones (pecan, sage, white, black, grey, etc), and has pieces like bra tops, cargo pants, oversized sweatpants, pullovers, and zip-ups.
I managed to get my hands on the Pecan Abella Zip Up, Oversized Sweat Joggers, and Beige Lalae crop top (not currently available on the site). I really love the fit and quality of this collection, and it’s definitely a great option if you’re looking for some cute sweats to add to your wardrobe. I do want to make sure that this collection is final sale, so be sure to double-check the size chart!
If you’re into athlesiure, or are simply trying to figure out how to look cute in sweatpants here are 5 styling tips to elevate your look:
5 Tips to Help you Cute in Sweatpants:
1) Make Sure They’re In Good Condition
No holes, stains, or paint marks (unless they’re supposed to look distressed). It’s important to make sure that the sweats that you throw on are in good condition, so it looks like an intentional outfit. You don’t want to look like you wore out stuff that’s worn out, and got caught slipping. Never let your off day be their on day!
2) Get The Fit Right
Making sure that the sweatpants that you choose fit you well. You don’t want them to be too short, too tight, or even too loose. Slim fit sweatpants are a great way to show off your shape, but if you’re going for a relaxed look opt for something slightly oversized. I love the relaxed fit of these oversized joggers from JLuxLabel (for reference I purchased them in a Medium), but I also like to buy men’s sweatpants sometimes as well.
3) Color Coordinate
Make sure that the color palette of whatever ensemble you put together is complimentary. As a general rule of thumb, outfits that are neutral and monochromatic typically look more expensive and elevated. Also, neutrals go with anything so your styling options will be endless. The key here is to make sure that your outfit looks intentionally relaxed, and not just thrown together.
4) Accessorize
The right accessories elevate any look, and sweatpants are no different. Whether you decide to rock a cute crossbody bag, like this one I bought from Ego (which is looking real Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette-ish) or an oversized bag, a cute purse definitely helps to step up your look. I love to wear big hoop earrings, so I decided to toss some on and pull my hair up. If I had a cute fitted hat, that coordinated that would have been a cute option as well.
5) Pick The Right Footwear
Personally, I’m not really a sneaker girl. I really only started buying sneakers when I started working retail back in the day, and I bought a few more when I started working in the lab as well. When I’m styling a casual look and want to wear a sneaker, my go-to is always a white platform sneaker (something Nike Air Force One-ish). However, when you’re styling sweatpants, and want to elevate your look, don’t be scared to throw on a heel! I love to wear sweatpants with heels and use them to help elevate my otherwise overall casual look.
