When I think of my ideal Valentine’s Day date at home (because we’re still in a whole pandemic), it’s comprised of three things: food, movies, and vibes. Going out for Valentine’s Day might not be as easy as years past, given the new COVID regulations. Also, the restaurants allowing people to dine-in (or outside in bubbles) probably have limited reservations available.
Thankfully, creating a fun and romantic Valentine’s Day at home isn’t hard. All you need is some creativity and Pinterest.
What’s Cookin?
When it comes to food, you have quite a few options. It just depends on how much time you have and how much you think you can reasonably handle. You could plan a menu and cook dinner together (bonus points if you got a solid R&B playlist on deck). You could also arrange to have dinner delivered from your favorite place so you and your boo can relax.
Celebrating virtually? You still have similar options. If you decide on a dish ahead of time, you could both make it and eat together on facetime. Or you could have dinner delivered to your date at a prearranged time through an app like GrubHub or DoorDash.
Netflix, No Chill
Netflix has had some solid new movie options, like Malcolm and Marie, which everybody is buzzing about. You could also rent a movie on one of your digital devices or have a mini-marathon of a show you’ve both been meaning to catch up on.
Make sure you have some solid movie snacks on standby! You could also prepare a Valentine’s Day Gift basket for your date, including some movie snacks. Who doesn’t love chocolate?
Vibes
Creating a cozy and romantic atmosphere is key. You could light (or warm) some candles, get your playlist together, and play a game or two. You could also have a relaxing night of self-care if you think that’s something both you and your partner would enjoy.
We’re Not Really Strangers is a new question game that’s out, and it’s focused on helping people get to know each other better. I played it recently, and it comes with tons of questions with different levels. There’s surface-level stuff, funny questions, and deeper level stuff too. It’s a great way to get to know your boo better and learn some new things about them.
