Did you know you could order 4 perfume samples from Maison Francis Kurkdjian (including Baccarat Rouge 540) for $16? You’re welcome. I’ve been really curious about the perfume Gentle Fluidity Gold, and I wanted to know what Baccarat Rouge 540 smelled like (v.s. Cloud, IFYKYK) so I ordered some samples. For about $16, you can order 4 of the 2mL perfume samples of your choice from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. You also will later receive a code via email, that allows you to put the samples purchase amount towards a bottle of perfume on their site. I decided to order samples of Baccarat Rouge 540, Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, Gentle Fluidity Gold, and Gentle Fluidity Silver.
As these perfumes are all pretty pricey ($140-$435), and there aren’t any stores near me where I could test them out, I wanted to get my hands on some samples to see what’s tea. I also wanted to see how well my trusty Cloud by Ariana Grande stacked up against the OG luxury fave Baccarat Rouge 540 (spoiler alert: ISSA AFFORDABLE DUPE WORTH THE COINS).
Baccarat Rouge 540
Baccarat Rouge 540 is an OG luxury fave fragrance. I was originally put on by a seasoned fragrance connoisseur, and simply told “if you know, you know.” Well chile, now I know. Baccarat Rouge is a unisex fragrance, and it’s described as floral, woody, and amber. She’s the It Girl for a reason, as when you smell it, you just know: that’s Baccarat.
The notes of BR 540 include jasmine, cedarwood, ambergris, and saffron. It’s a mysterious and sensual fragrance, with a subtle sweetness.
I compared Cloud by Arianna Grande to Baccarat Rouge 540, and honestly, Cloud is an amazing affordable dupe. I will say that Baccarat Rouge 540 has a slightly more woody note present, while Cloud opts to have a noticeable pear note (reminiscent of the subtle sweetness of Baccarat).
Overall Cloud is SUPER similar. Most cannot tell the difference. If you love the scent, but it’s not in the budget, I’d say opt for Cloud (I personally will continue to purchase Cloud as well, because I’m on a budget lol).
Baccarat Rouge 540 ExtraiT
Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait is very similar to Baccarat Rouge 540, except the woody and musk notes are TURNT UP. They basically dominate the overall scent. I’m more of a gourmand girl (check out this post on my fave sweet perfumes), so this one is not for me. I found the woody notes to be reminiscent of pine. If you enjoy woody notes, you might prefer this to Baccarat Rouge 540. I also picked up the Jasmine note, but I felt like it was overpowered by the wood and musk. For me, this fragrance feels more unisex. Its notes include Grandiflorum jasmine, saffron, cedarwood, ambergris, and musky wood accord.
The extrait is bold, powerful, and packs a punch. If you like stronger fragrances with woody notes, this is for you. If you prefer a softer and subtly sweeter take on this scent, stick with Baccarat Rouge 540.
Gentle Fluidity Gold
Baby, Gentle Fluidity Gold is a winner for me. l will have to eventually treat myself to a bottle of this perfume. It’s described as oriental and musky. Gently Fluidity Gold is the main reason I ordered the samples, and I am not disappointed. I immediately picked up the vanilla and musk notes in this perfume. It smells powdery, fresh, feminine, and lightly fruity. I attribute this to the Juniper Berries, and honestly, the berry notes remind me of Juicy Couture Gold. If you like the combination of Vanilla and Musk by Kayali, then you will like Gently Fluidity Gold.
Gentle Fluidity Gold also has a subtly woody note, and when it dries down on me I mainly smell the fruitiness of it throughout the day.
It’s a very long-lasting fragrance. Overall this fragrance feels very fresh, feminine, and sweet yet refined, and alluring. Definitely worth checking out.
Gentle Fluidity Silver
Gentle Fluidity Silver feels like the other side of the coin. This fragrance is very spicy and mildly musky. It definitely has woody notes, much like BR 540 Extrait. This fragrance also feels very unisex for me and reminds me of a cologne my dad has (not sure of the name). To me, Gentle Fluidity Silver feels very spicy, woody, and mysterious.
Overall, if you like sweeter Perfume try
If you like woody or spicy Perfume try
Have you tried any of these fragrences? Do you know any good dupes? Let me know in the comments!
Stylishly Yours,
