NYFW Diaries: How To Find NYFW Events To Attend
One of the many fun things to do during fashion week is attending various afterparties happening around the city. My girls and I went to the Jerk X Jollof NYFW afterparty, as we had a great time at the one in Miami this summer.
What I Wore to the Jerk X Jollof NYFW Party
I knew I wanted to wear something that had a sexy yet relaxed street-style vibe. My friends at Pretty Little Thing gifted me the perfect outfit for the occasion. I wore a blue and yellow corset and vintage wash wide-leg jeans that were super distressed. The cutouts in the back feel edgy and sexy without doing too much. I’m wearing both pieces in a size 6.
I styled the outfit with my go-to denim print Louis Vuitton scarf and toiletry bag. This scarf goes with a lot of outfits that I wore during NYFW, so I’m glad I got it. My trusty white air force ones were non-negotiable because I knew I would dance the night away to Afrobeats. I could easily swap them out for gold heels to dress it up a bit.
My Afrobeats playlist
Speaking of Afrobeats, this is my go-to Afrobeats playlist. I’m not gonna hold you, it’s super heavy on Burna Boy and Asake.
How To Find NYFW Events To Attend
If you’re looking for NYFW events to attend in the future, there are a few key pieces you should look.
- Social Media. You gotta keep your ear to the streets chile. Look for postings on Instagram and TikTok about various fashion week events that are happening, and sign up quickly. Keep a close eye on new posts under #NYFW at least a month before fashion week.
- Eventbrite. A lot of fashion week pop-up events, parties, etc. are posted on Eventbrite. I recommend you start searching about a month beforehand, and intensify your search 1-2 weeks before fashion week. Events like the Prada Paradoxe and Chanel Diner pop-up were both advertised this way, and that is how people signed up to attend. Walk-ins were also welcome, so be prepared for long lines.
- Network. I was invited to a couple of designer events and afterparties, however, I was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts. Reaching out to the PR agencies for specific brands may help get you on the list for their NYFW events.
Did you attend any NYFW events this year? If you, which was your fave? Let me know in the comments!
